Transition of aromatic volatile and transcriptome profiles during melon fruit ripening

چکیده

Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is an important diploid crop with a wide variety of flavors due to its distinct aromatic volatile organic compounds (VOC). To understand the development VOC profiles during fruit development, we performed metabolomic and transcriptomic analysis two cantaloupe varieties over course development. A total 130 metabolites were detected in samples, 449014207 reads mapped melon genome. 4469 differentially expressed genes fruits identified used visualize transition shift both was observed from early-fruit enriched C5-C8 lipid-derived VOCs late-fruit abundant C9 VOCs, apocarotenoids, esters. The coincided expression specific isoforms lipid carotenoid metabolizing enzymes as well transcription factors involved ripening, metabolite regulation, hormone signaling.

Climacteric fruit ripening: Ethylene-dependent and independent regulation of ripening pathways in melon fruit

Cantaloupe melons have a typical climacteric behaviour with ethylene playing a major role in the regulation of the ripening process and affecting the ripening rate. Crossing of Cantaloupe Charentais melon with a non-climacteric melon indicated that the climacteric character is genetically dominant and conferred by two duplicated loci only. However, other experiments made by crossing two non-cli...

Expression of ascorbate oxidase isoenzymes in cucurbits and during development and ripening of melon fruit

At least 14 ascorbate oxidase (AO) isoenzymes with isoelectric points in the range of pH 3 /10 have been identified and their expression profile studied in various Cucurbitaceae tissues and during development and ripening of melon fruit (Cucumis melo L. var. reticulatus). At least four acidic AO isoenzymes were mainly located in the apoplastic fraction, whereas 10 basic AO isoenzymes were found...

Melon, an alternative model plant for elucidating fruit ripening

Ethylene perception has been studied using Arabidopsis and tomato as model plants during last two decades. Arabidopsis has been an ideal model system for gene identification and subsequent functional analysis of the identified gene. On the other hand, tomato is not only the model of choice to study climacteric fruit ripening but also crops of agronomic importance and hence has been at the foref...

Transcriptome analysis of the oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) during fruit development

BACKGROUND The oriental melon (Cucumis melo L. var. makuwa) is one of the most important cultivated cucurbits grown widely in Korea, Japan, and northern China. It is cultivated because its fruit has a sweet aromatic flavor and is rich in soluble sugars, organic acids, minerals, and vitamins. In order to elucidate the genetic and molecular basis of the developmental changes that determine size, ...

Variations of the peach fruit transcriptome during ripening and in response to hormone treatments

Peach has fleshy climacteric fruits. Their ripening is controlled by both endogenous and exogenous signals to link the genetic determinants with the environmental conditions. Genomic tools, such as microarray RNA profiling, offer new prospects to study in a holistic way complex biological problems such as fruit ripening. We have adopted a microarray approach to monitor transcriptome changes in ...
